"Politics", read as "Poly-Ticks": "The state of being infested with a large number of blood sucking parasitic organisms"

If i had political leanings up to the age of 20, it's almost certain that they tended greatly toward "liberal".   Why?   Because I was "told" that was how things were. I was told that was how i was supposed to believe.  And it really amounted more to hating the opposite camp more than even knowing what the camp i was supposed to be in even stood for.   I suppose it was easy enough to hate the party in power (Reagan) when you lived in abject poverty and were only approved for a $200 Pell Grant your first year of college.

Somewhere in my early 20's, with my first salaried job and my tax bracket jumping up, i began to listen to "the other side" and allowed myself to fall victim to the talking heads who were saying just what i wanted to hear.  And it's not that i don't agree with alot of the core principles of "conservatism", because i do, but there is much more that has become the daily rote mantra of "the right" that i can never and will never, agree with.  And those components which i cannot subscribe to exist in equal measure with the left.   And to top it off and nullify any possibility of ascribing to a "team",  is the recognition in the past five years that, no matter which team you wave your flag for, the truth of the matter is that we are all being duped and had by claiming we actually believe a single word of it.

Power.  Plain and simple.  The political system in this country, from the perspective of both major parties (and this knowledge has not escaped the key players in ANY of the obscure third parties either), has been tailored to take advantage of certain components within the electorate, not the least of which is the component of "emotional energy".   The "right", in particular, takes advantage of the emotional energy which is held by it's constituents on the issues related to words like "Founders", and "Constitution", and "Freedom", and "Amendments".   The "left" in these cases has capitalized on the emotional content behind such keywords as "Disenfranchisement", "Income equality", "Rich", and "Wealthy".   In any case, no matter which side you're waving the flag for, including and up to the fringe third parties like the Socialists, the Independents, and The Tea Party, you're a pawn.  You're nothing more than a pawn.   They come to you claiming to "know" your struggles, to support your agenda, and to be willing to sacrifice all in the interests of seeing YOU protected.   All they need from you is one simple thing:

Put
Me
In
Power.

Did you get that?  "Power".    You're under the impression that ours is a "government of the people, by the people, and for the people."   The problem is, that the ONLY time that it IS such, is during that ever so brief period during each election while the polls are open and there is a modicum of uncertainty about who is getting elected and who is getting tossed out.   Prior to that time and after that time, YOU are at the mercy of these bloodsuckers.   Once they're in, they've dug in like a summer tick and you have to live with their folly.   You acquiesce all power TO them and their will runs rampant.  Not yours.   You grant unto them absolute power during their term.  Once they are in office, it's one big payday to them.  Do you seriously think that any politician who is elected today on the mantra of "protecting your second amendment rights" is REALLY interested in such, as it was intended by the Founders?  Doing so would be signing their own death warrant and restricting their ability to profit from their elected seat.   The Founders included that amendment during a time when there was the real threat that the newly formed government of a fledgling nation would be infiltrated and overthrown by proxies of the British Monarchy, or even by nefarious individuals within who had no allegiance to either the new nation or the old.   I am NOT saying, for one second, that i do not appreciate my ability to defend my family in any way that i see fit, and will stand up for the existence of my right to own firearms, but i will NOT believe for ONE second, that ANY individual seeking election at a federal level who does so using the talking points of defending the second amendment is being anything other than maniupulative in looking at the votes he or she can garner by USING those points.  They are not, in almost every circumstance, interested in seeing that your ability to keep and bear arms is actually protected.   It only works for them in so far as it GETS them elected and will continue to limit it to the point where individuals WITH guns can never actually rise up and keep a tyrannical government in check.   Stop kidding  yourselves.

So you feel good about clinging to a "team", and you feel that your team is "right", and so you support the campaigns and elections of the individuals who purport to be on YOUR side.   Yet, these same individuals are so incredibly chummy with one another when they are off camera and out of your view, that they are actually trading notes on how to keep you sedated so they can line their own pockets more effectively.

Boehner, Cruz, Rubio, and Palin are NO different, behind closed doors, than Reid, Pelosi, Boxer, and
Obama.  Not one shade of difference.   They do and say whatever they can to make sure that you keep them in POWER and nothing beyond their own self-interests matters one iota to them.   NOWHERE in ANY crop of politicians today is there even ONE individual who can, with a clear conscience, say the following words and have them mean a goddamn thing:

"We mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor."

There is NO room in the career of politics for any politician, ANY such thinking, and not ONE person running for office in the past 200+ years has ever been able to make such a statement with a clear conscience and hold true to it.

For that reason alone, and above all else, the support of any politician seeking to be placed in a position of power within this festering, infected, rotting corpse of a republic can only be viewed as part of the problem and not part of any solution that they purport to be injecting into the body politic.

And so politics is a "necessary" evil in our day to day lives.  Yes, i acknowledge it is.  And when you say "if you don't participate in it and you don't vote, then you have no basis upon which to bitch about your life as it is subject to the folly of those elected.   To that i say "bullshit".   When it is never more than choosing the "lesser of X evils",  that which i would be participating in, makes my participation in such utterly disingenious.  It's false.  It's an abject lie.   Because, rest assured, no matter WHO gets elected, you CAN be sure of one thing..........I WILL be bitching about it.

And these are the reasons why i support none of your candidates, none of your incumbents, and particpate in none of your revelry exalting any, but, instead, gleefully participate in tearing apart any who elevate themselves falsely above this inexorably broken system.

Have fun boiling with the other frogs.
